About Albuquerque

The current city of Albuquerque was founded in 1706 near the Rio Grande and the Sandia Mountains. Although the city is known as one of the hottest parts of the country, it has a short winter period where the temperature drops significantly. Since it has a hot temperature most time of the year, Albuquerque is one of the best winter travel destinations for Americans who live in colder parts of the country.

The Jemez High Road is one of the most spectacular landscappe that people can enjoy in this part of the country while on a road trip. It is basically a road that travels from northern Albuquerque into Santa Fe. It is also best known as one of the “scenic byways” in the country and offers some of the most breathtaking sceneries in the region. It is now a tourist attraction with museums and other cultural stops along the road.

Your visit is not complete without a trip to the Old Town — a Spanish settlement which houses small shops with unique cultural items and restaurants that feature the unique flavors of the city.

The Sandia Mountains: It is a state park that is equipped with hiking trails, picnic areas, and other fun destinations. The tramway that goes down the mountain to the park area is also popular with visitors and locals who go to the park for recreation.
