Arizona’s administrative code for State Board of Medical Examiners, R4-11-1202. Continuing Dental Education Compliance and Renewal Requirements.

Before receiving a renewal license or certificate, each licensee or certificate holder shall possess a current form of one of the following: 1. A current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) healthcare provider certificate from the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or another certifying agency; 2. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) course completion confirmation from the American Heart Association or another agency. The confirmation must indicate that the course was completed within two years immediately before submitting a renewal application; or 3. Pediatric advanced life support (PALS) course completion confirmation from [multiple agencies]. The confirmation must indicate that the course was completed within two years immediately before submitting a renewal application.

“Recognized continuing dental education” means a program whose content directly relates to the art and science of oral health and treatment, provided by a recognized dental school as defined in A.R.S. § 32-1201(18), recognized dental hygiene school as defined in A.R.S. § 32-1201(17), or recognized denturist school as defined in A.R.S. § 32-1201(19), or sponsored by a national or state dental, dental hygiene, or denturist association, American Dental Association, Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) or Academy of General Dentistry, Program Approval for Continuing Education (AGD PACE) approved provider, dental, dental hygiene, or denturist study club, governmental agency, commercial dental supplier, non-profit organization, accredited hospital, or programs or courses approved by other state, district, or territorial dental licensing boards.

Arizona’s administrative code for State Board of Pharmacy:R4-23-204 states:

Continuing education requirements participated in 30 contact hours (3.0 CEU’s) of continuing education activity sponsored by an approved provider as defined in R4-23-110.

R4-23-110: Definitions “approved provider” means an individual, institution, organization, association, corporation, or agency that is approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in accordance with ACPE’s policy and procedures or by the Board as meeting criteria indicative of the ability to provide quality continuing education.

Childcare

R9-5-301. General Licensee Responsibilities A licensee shall ensure that a staff member who has current training in first aid and CPR, as required by R9-5- 403(E), is present: 1. At all times during hours of operation on facility premises, 2. On field trips, and 3. While transporting enrolled children in a facility’s motor vehicle or a vehicle designated by the licensee to transport enrolled children. A licensee shall ensure that a staff member required by R9-5-301(G) meets all of the following: 1. The staff member obtains first aid training specific to infants and children, 2. The staff member obtains CPR training specific to infants and children, which includes a demonstration of the staff member’s ability to perform CPR, 3. The staff member maintains current training in first aid and CPR, and 4. The staff member provides the licensee with a copy of the front and back of the current card issued to the staff member upon completing first aid and CPR training as proof of completion of the requirements of this subsection.

Rangers rescued people struck by lightning

Rangers received a report about a lightning strike, they found two people a man and a woman, unresponsive in the National Park. The man gained consciousness with any interventions however they provided CPR to the woman. The woman is not recovering in the burn center however the condition of the man is yet not known.

The life saving story of Chino Valley

It was a hectic day for an off-duty firefighter, he was driving back home after a long day of work when he spotted a man lying breathless next to a truck. He knew what to do and, with the help of another bystander, pulled the man out of the wreckage and began doing CPR maneuvers on the body. The EMT arrived and transported the gentleman to Yavapai Regional Medical Center where he recovered.

Twins nearly drown in hot tub

2-year-old twins, a girl and a boy, nearly drowned in a hot tub. The children were removed from the hot tub and CPR was performed. They did not have a pulse when EMS took them to the hospital. The little girl was taken to the ICU and the little boy regained his pulse in the emergency room. Authorties have noted that the hot tub at Tempe Village, the family's residence, was not covered.
