There were nine priorities that the Mecklenburg County Health Department identified based on the CHA. They include prevention of chronic diseases (such as heart disease) through healthy behaviors, better access to health care, environmental health (healthy neighborhoods, communities), substance abuse prevention and care, violence prevention, injury prevention, mental health awareness and treatment, responsible sexual behavior, and maternal child health.

About Charlotte

In 1768, Charlotte was originally declared a town and it has not stopped growing and thriving since. It remains a main cultural center in the U.S. with lots of outdoor activities as well as a thriving arts and cultural community. It is one of the most loved and travelled to destinations for Americans who want a taste of luxury and refined culture on vacation or day trips.

This is another city that is well known for its rich NASCAR racing tradition. Racing is definitely an ingrained part of life in North Carolina and many of the most reputable speedways happen to rest in this city. Yet, there is a lot more to do in this city than hit the track.

Carowinds is the major theme park in the city and draws in a regular crowd of locals as well as many visitors throughout the summer months. It is one of the biggest family attractions in the city.

For outdoor adventure-seekers, the U.S. National Whitewater Center is more than enough to quench the thirst for water, fun, and thrilling excitement. Besides whitewater rafting and canoeing, this huge park features a variety of outdoor amusements such as mountain biking, trail running, and climbing. This is a nationally recognized training facility for extreme sports where top professional athletes and amateurs enjoy the outdoors side by side.
