APPROVED CATEGORIES OF CME
(a) Category1 CME providers are: (1)Institutions or organizations accredited by the Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and reciprocating organizations; (2)The American Osteopathic Association (AOA); (3)A state medical society or association; (4)The American Medical Association (AMA);
Nurses: We are accepted by the NC Board of Nursing because we are accredited by ANCC
North Carolina’s State Board of Nursing Administrative Code 21 NCAC 36.0807 CONTINUING EDUCATION states:
In order to maintain nurse practitioner approval to practice, the nurse practitioner shall earn 50 contact hours of continuing education each year beginning with the first renewal after initial approval to practice has been granted. At least 20 hours of the required 50 hours must be those hours for which approval has been granted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education (ACCME),
Dentists: We are accepted by the NC Board of Dentistry because we accredited by ADA CERP
North Carolina’s Rules for Dental Examiners 21NCAC 16I .0103 APPROVED COURSES AND SPONSORS states
(b) Approved continuing education course sponsors include: (1) providers recognized by the American Dental Association’s Continuing Education Recognition Program, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, or components of such organizations;
Pharmacists: We are accepted by the NC Board of Pharmacy because we are accredited by ACPE
North Carolina’s State Board of Pharmacy rule 21NCAC 46 .2201 states:
(e)All continuing education shall be obtained through continuing education courses accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists
EMS:We are accepted by the NC Office of EMS because our courses follow the latest AHA Guidelines
North Carolina’s Office of Emergency Medical Services Rule 10A NCAC 13P .0502 INITIAL CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS FOR EMR, EMT, AEMT, PARAMEDIC, AND EMD states:
(c) In order to be credentialed by the OEMS as an EMD, individuals shall: (3)complete, within one year prior to application, an AHA CPR course or a course determined by the OEMS to be equivalent to the AHA CPR course, including infant, child, and adult CPR;
Tattoo Artists: We are accepted by the NC Department of Health because we are OSHA compliant
NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES DIVISION OF PUBLIC HEALTH Rule 15A NCAC 18A .3208 states:
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
(d) Blood and body fluid precautions shall be practiced by the tattoo artist when the potential for contact with blood and body fluids exists in any procedure.
